auditions!

It's that time of year again - Out of Context is looking for a few new voices to fill out our sound. Out of Context is not your typical choir - don't think classical. Think pop. Think rock. Think out-of-the-ordinary. Auditions will be held in the upstairs rehearsal room of the Music House (305 S. Hill Ave, on the NE corner of campus) Here's how things have worked in the past:

Warmups and Range - We sing some easy vocal warmups with you to test how high and low you can sing.

Solo - You sing something for us. Please make this something in *your* style. We not only want to hear what you can do, but we also want to hear what you're all about.

Pitch Matching - We'll play some musical sequences for you on a piano and have you sing them back for us. No biggie.

Sing with us - We'll bring out the sheet music for an Out of Context favorite from last year. Don't worry if you don't read music (although it will help you in the long run) - we'll have someone in the group sing your part for you, then sing it with you. This is where we see how you sound with the group.

Q and A - We ask you questions, you ask us questions. It's good times all around.

E-mail us to schedule an audition. We'll be holding them Monday-Wednesday from 10pm-1am. If you're already signed up for an audition, your name and time will appear in the list below. If you want to audition (and you know you should...) but can't make it during these times, worry not! We're willing to stay late or come in extra days if you're willing to come (after 12am or on Thursday).
